It was a great honor to receive this award for my dedication and service to NCRS at the chapter and national level.
I will receive my 300 level Master Judging hat at the NCRS National Convention in Mobile Alabama 2022.
My 1981 Corvette earned its 4 star Bowtie & McLellan Awards at the 2021 National Convention. This in combination with being a Master Judge qualifies me for the NCRS Red Hat and it will be a great honor to receive this at the NCRS 2022 national convention.
In 2019 I was trusted with the NCRS Nebraska judging chairman's position. I didn't think I was ready for the position, but no one else wanted to do it so I jumped in with both feet! In the past 4 years it has been a great pleasure to see the chapter grow from a single car judging meet in a body shop to 5+ car judging meets in a private airplane hangar.
As the pandemic increased and reduced our abilities to meet in person, NCRS took the bold step to allow online judging schools using digital online platforms like GoToMeeting & Zoom. This was a creative way to keep people involved with NCRS from the safety of home. I was one of 6 people that presented a NCRS national judging school online to help people continue NCRS involvement during Covid19.
It is a great honor to selected as a regional and national judge for these three C3 teams. I have worked hard to increase my knowledge both of the cars and the judging process so that I can do a professional and accurate job as a NCRS judge.
NCRS is known worldwide for our judging manuals, but they are not produced out of thin air. Thousands of volunteer hours go into creating these manuals for use by restorers, owners and judges. It was an honor to be selected to be on both manual writing teams and I contributed photographs, written copy, and editing/proofreading to both manuals prior to printing. Having my name inside the cover of both manuals with many other great friends and NCRS members is a a great honor and I'm glad to be a part of these groups of friends.
There is nothing wrong with the NCRS Driveline magazine for buying and selling parts. But we can all agree that the magazine doesn't have nearly the quantity or quality of parts that it did in years past. Why? Well, I would guess that people do not want to submit an ad and wait 1-2 months for their parts to be visible to buyers. The advent of ebay created the ability to find the part you want in seconde not months. With ebay's success came pitfalls and its harder to search theu all the spam ads and listing fees have skyrocketed on ebay. Many people have found that Facebook marketplace is a new and quick way to buy and sell parts, so I decided to combine the best of Facebook but keep it within the private NCRS community. With the approval of NCRS, I created Corvette Parts Swap - NCRS members only. This uses the same format - you must be a NCRS member to join - as the driveline, but you can post instantly, post photos and communicate instantly with your buyer/seller. Using modern forms of media advertising to buy/sell is the way of the future. Click on the link below to go to Corvette Parts Swap - NCRS Members Only.
In the past few years, NCRS Regional and National events have been somewhat poorly attended. I think that creating more information and excitement about attending these events would go a long way to getting more people to join in the fun. For the past two years, at every event I have attended, I do Facebook Live videos for people to see and hear what is going on at the event. When you watch live videos of Corvettes coming into or out of the judging floor, when you see video walk arounds of these events, I am the one putting together the videos and content. My hope is that people will see these and want to attend the next major NCRS event.
Over the past 4 years I have earned 15 Top Flights from Chapter to National with 5 different Corvettes. I have achieved the NCRS 4 Star Bowtie & McLellan Awards with my 1981 and will be attempting the same two awards with my 1979 L82 at the 2022 National Convention in Mobile Alabama. I earned a third flight award with my 1963 Corvette and that was the best one of all! Ask me why sometime.
I am not only a Nebraska chapter member, I am proud to be a chapter member of Heartland (Iowa), Midway USA (Wichita, KS), North Central, Rocky Mountain, Kansas City, New Mexico, Bonneville, Wisconsin & Illinois Chapters. I travel to many of their judging meets and schools to learn more as a student and to also be a better NCRS judge.
One of the ways I contribute to NCRS is by writing tech & judging school articles for NCRS newsletters. In my shop we encounter hundreds of opportunities to take photographs of a repair or restoration procedure. This is a golden opportunity to take that repair and share it with NCRS members that may be having the same problem. I have written and have had over 70 articles published in chapter newsletters around the midwest.
